The European Sailing Federation – EUROSAF – since its inception at the end of the last century, has been continuously supporting adapted sailing. Without leaving aside the rest of the sailing specialties, where he has excelled in Olympic, Youth and Children’s Sailing and the creation of their respective European circuits, he has always shown his unconditional support for this type of regatta.
Known were its European Adaptive Sailing Championships, sponsored by the multinational electric company Iberdrola and also held in Spain years ago.
On the occasion of its 25th anniversary since its foundation, Eurosaf has awarded this important event to an organization – Univela Sailing International and to a Club, the Club Náutico Mar Menor with extensive experience in inclusive sailing. This Club celebrates annually and for decades an important regatta whose efforts are focused on disabilities and celebral palsy.
On the occasion of the celebration of this regatta, all the parties involved and already mentioned want to devote themselves to demonstrating that this type of event can be, at least, as important as an Olympic selection regatta.
From a year before the celebration of this one, the organization is already working to offer its sailors its best tools in the organization of the competition and, in addition, it tries to bring its dates closer to the Hansa Class World Championship to be held in Portimao – Portugal, to join their organizational efforts and facilitate an intense month of high-level regattas.
